I really didn't think i was going to get inOct 11 2008Pharmacy
I really didn't think i was going to get in. It has progressivly gotten harder to get in. Anyone who got in before 2006-07 had it easy. I applied 2008, had a 3.3 GPA and i joined all the clubs senior year. I did OK freshman and Sophmore year of hs; mostly B's and C's. However, junior year i had straight A's and worked my butt off. Senior year i picked hard classes and did OK there too. I joined every club i could get into and had amazing recommendations from previous teachers(tnx to junior year). So my advice is to apply early, WRITE AN ESSAY, get above 1650 on SAT's, amazing recommendation letters, plenty of clubs + volunteer hours + leadership roles, and of course decent grades. You have a better chance of getting in if a in-state student and GOOD LUCK!!

Do well on the SAT and get good grades. If you're a boarderline candidate, apply early and write a good essay explaining any weaknesses in your application, but focusing on what makes you a good student.

I can't really give any useful admission advice asSep 01 2007Biology
I can't really give any useful admission advice as I didn't even bother to fill out the essay in the application. As a NJ resident, I pretty much rode my high school GPA and SAT scores into Rutgers.

Rutgers is a public university and gets a poorAug 13 2007Political Science
Rutgers is a public university and gets a poor reputation within the state for being "easy" to get into. I found a lot of my friends were surprised at how many people Rutgers turns away- don't underestimate this giant!!

And a little extra effort never hurt anyone, good SAT and ACT scores will help you get one of the many scholarships they have to offer. But mostly you need to prepare for once you get here.

The classes are VERY hard. Imagine your AP class, only intensified by ten. But don't worry, everyone adjusts :)
